2nd World War

The teaching still took place in two buildings and the students were divided into two classrooms. In 1939 our school also partook in the loud celebrations at the declaration of the Slovak state. From 11. November 1940 the lessons finally took place in three classrooms. The third classroom was opened in one of the warden's rooms. In all three classes the lessons were taking place continually all day. In 1940 electric lighting was installed in the main school building.

As a result of war, the lessons were canceled in the school year of 1944/45.The school building served as a refuge for the partisans and towards the end of the war as a hospital for Hungarian prisoners

The school building was damaged during the World War 2 and thus the beginning of the school year was postponed until the 13.9.1945. After this time, some lessons took place in one room of the director's flat. The pupils were again divided into three classrooms. The after-war period was marked by continuous repairing works on the school building. In 1947 an official request was made asking for adding either a superstructure or an annexe for another three classrooms. From 1948 the notoriously known system of five-year planning was also introduced in the educational system. It was designed to increase the effectiveness of work and stimulate the competitiveness of pupils as well as teachers. On 15th April 1949 a Secondary school in Detva-Krivan was established. By a decree of of the Slovak National Council all schools came under the state control. The school was therefore renamed to the State people's school.
